Surgical Technician

Garrett County Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time (40-hours per week) experienced Surgical Technician.  Position will work primarily days and will participate in the on-call schedule.  Surgical Technician certification preferred or significant surgical tech experience necessary.

Maintenance Mechanic

Garrett County Memorial Hospital currently has an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) Maintenance Mechanic. Approximately 3-5 years of related work experience required. Certification or comparable experience in HVAC, refrigeration, electricity, carpentry, electronics or stationary engineering. Must have or acquire Grade 5 Stationary Engineers license within 3 months and Grade 3 Stationary Engineer license within 15 months of hire date. Functions and performs at a journeyman tradesman's level in one or more construction trades. Ability to understand and effectively carry out written and oral instructions. Able to perform assigned daily duties with a minimum of direction. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor in various weather conditions. Also responsible for related activities of the hospital building and grounds. Must maintain regular attendance and possess positive interpersonal skills.

Radiographer

Garrett County Memorial Hospital currently has an opening for a part-time (24-hours per week) Radiographer. Position scheduled to work Saturday's and Sunday's, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Operates radiographic/CT equipment to perform diagnostic x-ray and basic CT examinations as directed by physicians according to established standards and practices. Exercises professional judgment and attitude in performance of services and provides appropriate patient care. May act as a preceptor for Radiologic Technology students from Radiology programs that use GCMH as a clinical site.

Graduate from an approved school of Radiology Technology with registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Maryland State License. CT experience preferred but not necessary.

 

Director of Plant Operations

Garrett County Memorial Hospital, a progressive, small rural hospital nestled in the scenic mountains of beautiful western Maryland, currently has an opening for a Director of Plant Operations.

The Plant Operations Director oversees the operation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant, oversees contractor performance, assists with contract development, schedules and modifies physical plant operations, develops preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, develops maintenance and repair resource estimates, implements maintenance policies and procedure, inputs into the construction process, monitors and improves energy use, ensures utilities availability, ensures accountability for equipment maintenance and maintains reference library and materials.  Hospital specific knowledge of State, Federal and regulatory agencies’ requirements pertaining to facilities management.

Degree in mechanical engineering or related fields preferred.  A minimum of 10 years experience in increasingly responsible roles in hospital facility management required.  Maryland Grade 1 Stationery Engineer license required or must obtain within the first year of employment and CPR certification.  Thorough knowledge of most current building codes, NFPA, EOC, Life Safety and Joint Commission standards.

Registered Nurse Float Pool

Garrett County Memorial Hospital, currently has openings for two (2) full-time (40-hours per week) Registered Nurses for our RN Float Pool. Performs professional nursing duties as required in various nursing areas throughout the hospital. Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the nursing department standard of care. Communicates effectively with staff and physicians on each unit in regards to patient care. Participates in QA and Infection Control practice throughout the hospital. May be assigned responsibly for data collection in various areas of the hospital. Floats between two to three units.

Must make a 2 year commitment to float pool

Individual must be very organized, self-directed and creative. Strong communication skills and clinical knowledge necessary. Excellent patient relation skills essential. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Computer experience helpful. Minimum of two years previous Nursing experience required. Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners required.

Transcriptionist

Garrett County Memorial Hospital currently has an opening for a part-time (20-hours per week) Medical Language Transcriptionist. Medical transcription experience, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology required. Knowledge of Meditech and Microsoft Office preferred. Experience with speech recognition editing software recommended. Must consistently transcribe 1200 lines per day. Will work shifts as scheduled, rotating weekends and rotating holidays.
