ATM

An ATM machine is located in the basement, near the cafeteria.


Cafeteria

The cafeteria is located in the basement of the George Loar building of GCMH.

Meals are served daily from:
11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Special arrangements may be made for visitors to purchase a guest tray if they'd like to eat in the room with a patient. These arrangements can be made by speakingwith a member of the staff.


Gift Shop

ImageThe Loar Auxiliary Gift Shop is located in the main lobby of the hospital. A variety of snacks, gifts and flowers are available, as well as, The Republican newspaper.

For your convenience, the Loar Auxiliary Gift Shop offers delivery to patient rooms during hours of operation at no charge. All major credit cards are accepted. To place an order or for more information call (301) 533-4045.

The Loar Auxiliary Gift Shop is managed and operated by a core group of volunteers who devote countless hours to ensure the Shop’s success. All proceeds from the Gift Shop are used by the Auxiliary to assist Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

Hours:
Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.


Parking


All visitors are asked to park in lots specifically designated for visitors. Parking is provided free of charge.


Smoking

While it has been the hospital's policy to prohibit smoking in all hospital buildings for many years, as of July 1, 2003, smoking is no longer allowed on hospital grounds, including parking lots, structures and outdoor areas.


Snack Bar


ImageThe Cup O’ Joe snack bar, maintained by the Loar Auxiliary, offers traditional vending snacks, as well as specialty and gourmet coffee and is accessible 24 hours a day.

All proceeds from Cup O’ Joe are used by the Auxiliary to assist Garrett County Memorial Hospital.


Telephones

Public telephones are located in the Emergency Department waiting area on the 1st floor and in the Surgical Services waiting area on the 2nd floor. The use of cellular phones is only permitted in approved areas of the hospital.


TTY

To support patients or family members who are deaf or hard of hearing, Teletypewriters (TTYs) are available in the Admissions department and can be reached from outside the hospital at (301) 533-4146.

Vendors

All sales representatives must have appointments to visit with any department personnel. Purchasing will verify appointments and maintain a Vendor Sign In Log, as well as issue a vendor badge for GCMH identification. Appointments are accepted Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. by calling (301) 533-4020 or (301) 533-4021. Click here to login/register.


Visiting Hours


Visiting hours are from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for patients in semi-private rooms and 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. for those in private rooms.

Two visitors are allowed per patient at any one time. Children under age 12 are not encouraged to visit.

While there are no set visiting hours for the Sub-Acute Unit, visitors are asked to be mindful of the important rest that patients need for recovery. Special visiting hours are maintained in the Family-Centered Maternity Suite (Please check with a staff member in this area for specific times), Intensive Care Unit and the Progressive Care Unit.

9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
