Garrett County Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society have set the schedule for sponsoring Look Good...Feel Better workshops for this year with the first one to be held on March 17th from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at the Hospital's Community Services Building. Look Good...Feel Better workshops are geared for individuals undergoing treatment for cancer. Future workshops have been scheduled for May 19th, August 18th, and October 20th. Look Good...Feel Better is a free, national public services program dedicated to teaching women and teenage cancer patients the techniques to help restore their appearance and self image, and how to deal with the sociological side of effects they experience during treatment. This workshop is conducted by volunteer cosmetologists and includes a 12-step skin and makeup program. Cosmetics for the program are provided free of charge courtesy of the American Cancer Society, The Cosmetics, Toiletry & Fragrance Association Foundation and the National Cosmetics Association. Demonstrations in the use of wigs, hats, and turbans are also given. This program is offered free and each participant receives a free makeup kit valued at $250. For those who cannot attend a workshop self help materials including a video and instructional booklet are available. To register or obtain more information contact Lisa Schad at (301) 533-4366.
